How does that look to you? Tasty? Yep, your eyes are probably bigger than your stomach, my dear. It's no joke - those are 110.5km right there, and we're going to be doing them in 2 hours. There'll be something for everyone, sprints, timetrials, climbs, some climbs, more climbing, and a massive climb to a lung-busting mountaintop finish. You even get to sit down while you do it. What is not to love about that there route?
Get booking, plan your sessions working up to it (freshish but fit legs needed) pre-hydrate, and make sure Fox has your heartrate max recorded accurately.
As usual, there is glory for:
Enter the PainCave - 7am 17/4/2016, Portishead, Bristol studio.
We're happy to announce that the next #PainCave will take place at 7am (of course!) on Sunday 20th March. Got a high grunt threshold? Want to build strength and stamina on the road? Want to see what you can do?
This session is two hours and will be following stage 3 of the 2015 Tour de France through a lovely chunk of Belgium. Don't be deceived - there are 4 juicy climbs, a sprint opportunity and also for a showboat sprint finish UPHILL. Oh yes! If you like the thought of a thrashingly good workout while the lesser folk are still in bed, this is definitely the event for you.
You never know, there may even be a naked Norwegian.
Click below to book. You know you want to, in a funny kind of way.
Fancy it? Of course you do. What do you need to do next?
Are you ready?
Well done for booking in (if you've done it). We're almost ready to start.
The route we will be following will be the 2014 Tour de France route from Leeds to Harrogate, that's 190.5km if you go the long way round! We're starting at an elevation of 39m, heading up to two category 3 climbs and one category 4 climb up to 532m at the peak of the Cote de Buttertubs.
You'll be riding in teams, working together to smash the others (of course!) and also competing for the right to take the podium:
Bring an accurate recent weight with you (and something to calculate your ratio on - phone is fine)
Hydrate well from now until we start
Bring plenty of water
Get your #PainCave head on.
Booked your #PainCave place? Nice job.
Here are few things you need for preparation:
We are very excited to announce that the #PainCave has now arrived. Bookings are open for the very first #PainCave session next week.
The #PainCave is a 2 hour session specially designed to improve your fitness, strength and stamina on the road - so if you're planning on getting a few cycling events in your diary this year, this one's definitely for you. We will be following the route of the the Grand Depart of the 2014 Tour de France from Leeds to Harrogate, taking in the sights (and probably also the smells) and heading over the fabulous Cote de Buttertubs.
Rocking tunes come as standard, there will be no gimmicks, just camaraderie and plenty of challenges to increase your fitness, bust your personal best, and smash other people up the hills when you get out on the road. What's not to like?
Think you can't manage a 2 hour stint? If you can do a 45 minute progressive session, you'll still be fine for the #PainCave - your legs can do more than you think. Have a go in a supportive environment with nice people who are also having a go.
Just begs the question, Ah, but who's going to WIN?
Join us at 7am on Sunday! (Yep, early bird gets the worm, and the early fox gets the bragging rights.)
