Fox Cycling Online Instructor: Darren
Darren: Hi! As well as instructing at Fox Cycling, I am work as Head of Sport and PE at a school in the area. I'm married to Celine (another foxy cycling instructor!) with three great kids and have lived in Portishead for five years.
Fox: Thanks, Darren. Please describe your classes to those not familiar with them.
Darren: I really enjoy encouraging clients to work outside their comfort zone through achievable, challenging tasks that test their physical and mental strength.
Fox: Nice! So what kind of feedback do you get from customers and Fox members?
Darren: That it's motivating, challenging and fun!
Fox: And what would you like people to take away from their sessions with you?
Darren: I'd hope they'd be taking their sweaty clothes, towels and shoes!
Fox: Well perhaps we could set up an Ebay shop for those who don't.
Darren: Seriously though, I want people to understand what they are capable of achieving. The human body is an amazing machine that can adjust to anything you throw at it!
Fox: So who would you like to see in your next class?
Darren: I think Cheryl Cole and Sandra Bullock would enjoy my classes. I'd see they'd buy their own heart rate strap on their first visit to get the most out of it though!
Fox: That's what we like about you, Darren, always on the job! So when you're not entertaining Ms Cole and Ms Bullock, what do you like doing?
Darren: Spending time at home with my family. I love travelling abroad, especially skiing with Celine. I am also a keen fly fisherman! Yep - fisherman! I enjoy teaching, especially exercise physiology and sports nutrition etc and I have always enjoyed rugby, both as a player and now more as a coach and spectator.
Fox: That's a busy old personal life right there! Is there anything that particularly winds you up?
Darren: Being late for something, untidiness (I have OCD) and Big Bother (reality shows) on TV.
Fox: Spoken like a true teacher, through and through! So let's have some gossip - what do people not know about you?
Darren: I was Welsh national fishing champion when I was a kid.
